Gather All the Little Children

They had never been in a recording studio before and could hardly wait for the big day!

Sitting cross legged on the carpet in our home, the children, beyond excited, eagerly anticipated the singing practice.

These were the eight that I had chosen to provide the background vocals for the last verse of one of the songs on my new CD. The auditions had been held at our local elementary school and the young ones I chose were gifted in so many ways – musical, rhythmic, bright, enthusiastic. We talked about what the song meant to them and their profound wisdom astounded me.

African girl with big eyes

I saw this child in my vision

The song was called “Gather All the Little Children” and would be the final song on the CD, INSIDE OF ME. I was inspired to write the melody and lyrics after attending some life-changing Psychology of Vision® workshops led by Dr. Chuck Spezzano from Hawaii. Many times during those sessions, I would experience a feeling of being in several places at once. It reawakened memories of seeing myself working, playing, teaching and singing with children. It gives me goosebumps to see how identical my ‘vision children’ are to the images I’ve included on this page. The African pictures here were tastefully photographed by my friend, Ondreanna Terra Nova, during her 4-month trip to the ancient continent.

“The lyrics came as part of a dream. I saw thousands of children laughing, crying, playing – in homes, playgrounds, in refugee camps, factories, in cave dwellings, schools, on the streets – all colors, races, creeds – connected soul to soul, heart to heart, all craving to be known, to find meaning; wanting someone to recognize them for the beautiful souls that they were.”

Gather all the little children from each corner of the earth
Gather all the little children and let them know their worth
Gather all the little children for we are all little children
Wanting so, to be known
Traveling Home

“I saw the open hearts and wide-eyed wonder of children everywhere. I felt the infinite layers of Light Beings surrounding them, enfolding them, lifting them up, reminding them of their joy, their passion, their reason for being.”

“I heard the children join their voices in song – different languages, multitudes of creative expressions – all uniquely gifted – all part of one great body of humanity. I saw the children inside the adults, the grownups remembering their innocence.”

Hi from Africa

This darling child captured my heart

Gather all the little children and help them ease their pain
Gather all the little children and help them trust again
Gather all the little children for we are all little children
Searching for an open door
Traveling Home

“I remembered the expression, ‘We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.’ Joining as One, we all gathered the children in our arms, in our hearts – we reminded them of their worth, their beauty, their brilliance. We ushered them into this new age with so much love, with understanding and compassion. We were their teachers, but they were also ours.”

Then came the recording day. Tink and I took the eight children to Calgary in our van. They chattered, laughed and sang all the way to the studio. Hearing their voices through the headphones for the first time threw them into gales of giggles.

Finally Dave Harrison, the Sound Engineer, and Ted Alexander, the Music Arranger, signaled from the sound booth. A hush descended on the room and the magic happened.

The children came in exactly on cue, singing for themselves, for all the children of the world, for people who rise again and again over huge obstacles and disabilities, for the parents, babies, grandparents – honoring the child inside us all; a sacred tribute to the power of the human spirit.

Gather all the little children and bring them center stage
Gather all the little children to usher in this new age
Gather all the little children, be a Light for all the children
Teaching them, reaching them, knowing them, showing them,
Loving them
As we’re traveling Home

Beautiful Judy, if all of the adults…would look within themselves…they would see the little child that is so beautiful and loving, to be connected with themselves…to gather around and just be…innocent, playful, and full of love…joy…harmony…and light! If the wonderful souls in this world could just see their true form, like the gorgeous children here in your writing, they are the innocent and lovely ones that will teach all of the older ones….to be children once again. I love your story and all of your musical wisdom! You are a beautiful teacher Judy!…and innocent child all rolled into one! Yeah!!!

Love you lots
Brenda
